To preserve and maintain our foremost world ranking in the manufacturing of LPG cylinders, SMPC implements full and complete quality control system to ensure our product conforms to international quality standards.
Inspection in Production Process
Hydrostatic Test are conducted by applying water pressure into the cylinder to reach designated pressure levels for a period of at least 30 seconds to detect for any possible leakage, bulging, or distortion.
Air Leakage Test By applying at least 100 PSI compressed air pressure into the cylinder prior to immersing the cylinder completely in water to check for any possible leakage. |

Inspection Conducted by Q.A Team
Radiographic Test (RT) is a test criteria for the Quality Assurance team by using x-ray coating gauge to examine for any defects of spud /bung weld, circumferential weld, and longitudinal weld of cylinder.
Macro – etch test is aimed at examining the weld quality, using etchant, at critical points such as spud, collar, footring, along circumferential weld, and longitudinal weld of cylinder.
Hardness Test is an inspection procedure to examine the hardness of parent material, weld, and HAZ (heat affected zone) of spud/bung, collar, footring, circumferential weld, and longitudinal weld of cylinder after heat treatment process.
Micro Structure Test
is an inspection procedure to examine the grain size of the structure of parent material, and weld of cylinder. PICTURE: Test result of micro structure

Tensile Test
is a mechanical test of parent material, circumferential weld, and longitudinal weld of heat-treated cylinder to determine the tensile strength, yield strength and parentage of elongation.
Bending Test is a test for cracks and any other non-conformance on welding surface.
Thread Projector Tests is a test for threading quality of valve connecting area.
